Woods Lake Campground

Woods Lake Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Your first look at Woods Lake will make your head swim. This tiny blue gem is surrounded by mountains reaching to the sky. Waterfalls flash silver as they fall down from the melting snowfields. Boulders and islands along the water’s edge glow warm and gray in the high-altitude sun. The needles are soft under the pines.

A few fisherfolk float around, fly-casting in their waders and inflatable devices. A family paddles by in a canoe (no motorboats allowed). Then you’ll see the campground. Woods Lake Campground is precious. Set up for tent campers, the first 14 or so sites have the fireplace and picnic table set well back from the parking space."

Fabulous campground! Really a treasure... No running water or electricity means no jerks watching TVs. We could see so many stars!!!

Also a plus, wood gathering is ok!!! You're not forced to purchase bundles of wood for 10 bucks a piece. Makes for a nice warm night, even at 7,000 feet.

Also, the drive isn't nearly as precarious as the description would have you believe. A short drive to Mono Lake or Tahoe.
