I usually don't care much for out and back trails, however this one is worth every mile. Nearly all single track with just a short distance of fire roads in the middle. The out is almost all uphill with some good technical stuff to test your skills and lung capacity. The views at the top of Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas are well worth the climb. Give yourself 1.5 -2.0 hours for the climb. Near the end of the climb is a highly recommended hike a bike section where there is a rock garden that is sure to pretzel a wheel. The downhill is truly awesome on the way back to the car. Only takes 45 minutes or less with very little uphill to slow you down.
