Whiskey Flat Trail Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This is an easy 2-mile hike in the Upper Kern River Canyon, conveniently accessible from the quaint town of Kernville. This is a chance to enjoy some Southern Sierra views and for your dog to soak his paws and maybe take a dip in the snow- fed Wild and Scenic Kern River.
The Kern River, and to a lesser extent Kernville, are the highlights of this short, easy excursion above and along the banks of the Kern River. The Kern River was named by explorer John C. Frémont in honor of Edward Kern, the topographer on Frémont’s 1845 expedition, when they came to the fork of two rivers where man-made where Lake Isabella now sits."
