Monache Meadows Professional Review and Guide

"Beautiful, scenic valley surrounded by wilderness areas. Remote location keeps traffic down. Explore, camp, fish and relax along river. Gentle, bumpy, single-lane road through forest and meadows. Shallow water crossings except during spring runoff."

Great trail, easy for jeeps. Stock JK can do this without any difficulty. Great views, great campsite at end of this trail next to river. Some people are able catch fish there (we didn't try). Amazing place to spend the night or two. It got really cold last time we went there.
My Son and I took our stock Jeep Wrangler Rubicon for a day trip. Beautiful country, would have loved to of camped. Our Jeep did a great job on this trail, I would say it was a pretty easy drive. As another reviewer mentioned there are some tighter turns a full-size truck may have difficulties with, but I did pass a few. We fuelled up in Lake Isabella and had plenty of gas to spare.
The Monache 4x4 trail is a beginner trail suitable for all high clearance vehicles. There is a couple of tricky sections that will keep the trail interesting. Not recommended for full size pickups or SUV's as the trail weaves thru the trees and is pretty narrow. There are numerous water crossings and the scenery is typical Sierra beautiful. South fork of the Kern river provides good fishing and there are plenty of free camping spots. It's a good spot to escape the crowds of nearby Kennedy Meadows. Fill your tank on HWY 395 before you go as there was no gas available in Kennedy Meadows.
