The Domeland Wilderness is an isolated, beautiful, and unspoiled piece of Southern California forestland. Named for its looming granite domes, it is a realm of picturesque vales ringed by bald summits. The region’s wild nature is apparent even in driving to the trailhead. It is the southernmost wilderness in the Sierra Nevada Range proper, but its borders encompass a variety of ecosystems that transition into desert in the area’s southerly reaches. This is a magnificent place for solitude; making the trip midweek will virtually guarantee it. The Manter Meadow hike makes an excellent introduction to this relatively unfrequented region.
