William Heise County Park Campground Professional Review and Guide
"Among the many reasons to tent-camp in William Heise County Park are the incredible drives in from L.A. via Warner Springs or from San Diego via Ramona or Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. All three show Southern California at its most charming and very best—the rolling, forested hills, the green meadows, the tiny western towns. This was the real gold the forty- niners found when they arrived in California—this beautiful land. On all three drives, near Julian, you climb 2 miles south on Pine Hills Road, then left on Frisius Drive. Those final 2 miles carry you through farmland that echoes bucolic Vermont or New Hampshire. The resemblance is eerie. You can only imagine the argonauts; after walking 3,000 miles across the continent they must have looked around Frisius Drive and thought, “My God! I’m home.”"
