Cuyamaca Rancho State Park Paso Picacho

Cuyamaca Rancho State Park: Paso Picacho Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Cuyamaca’s 25,000 acres extend from 3,000 to 6,000 feet in elevation. Forests of oak, yellow pine, and chaparral are interspersed with stony mesas, rock outcroppings, and rugged peaks. Several trails are located in the park, including two that ascend local peaks, Cuyamaca (6,512 feet) and Stonewall (5,730 feet).

Fishing is permitted seasonally in Lake Cuyamaca and the Sweetwater River, but results are usually mediocre. A Native American museum and a nature trail are located at the park headquarters. Paso Picacho is on Sunset magazine’s list of the one hundred best campgrounds in the western United States. Stay limit thirty days. Open all year."
