Wonderland Wash Trail

Wonderland Wash Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The use trail into Wonderland Wash is easy to follow due to the footsteps of the hundreds of rock climbers who enjoy these acres of White Tank granite. From the parking area, follow the trail to the first fork, and bear left towards the ruins of a pink house which you can see from the fork. Head for the house, then follow the beaten path to the left into the nearby shallow wash, only about 50 feet from the house site. The narrow wash is easy to follow, with periodic pathways weaving from bank to bank as you follow it northward into the Wonderland. A flat, easy hike into a fantasyland of monzogranite sculptures and mounds."

"Plentiful oak and prickly pear, as well as the remnants of a dam in the wash, are other attractions of this hike—but the primary focus is on the huge rock formations stretching in all directions in an enchanted world of whimsically eroded granite mounds. Well into the wash (1 mile from the trailhead) are the formations known to rock climbers who enjoy scaling their massive surfaces as the Astro Domes. You can usually hear climbers’ voices echoing from various points among the boulders, and their silhouettes may startle you when they appear hundreds of feet above, atop these obelisks. The return trip down the wash to the trailhead is equally interesting, providing views of the rock formations from a different perspective. Highlights: Spectacular rock formations of all shapes and sizes, in every direction."

We just headed out into the wash from Indian cove camp. We really enjoyed all the spring flowers and the life that is in the desert if you look closely. We scrambled up into the wonderland and felt the power and energy of the rocks. It was very spiritual.
