Gunsight Loop Professional Review and Guide
"The Wonderland of Rocks casts a siren’s spell to curious explorers. The otherworldly boulders, buttresses, and towers of monzogranite are a marvel to discover, but are a challenge to both movement and navigation. More than one hiker has become lost overnight, and the body of a stray hiker took years to discover. Gunsight Loop samples the pleasures of the Wonderland. This relatively short hike requires challenging boulder scrambling that is not suitable for young children or those with less than excellent balance. Rock climbers would rate the route third class, meaning there is hands-on climbing but no rope is required. Nobody should stray into the Wonderland without good cross-country navigation skills, and a compass or GPS receiver. The Wonderland of Rocks is a dayuse area; no camping is allowed."
