California Riding and Hiking Trail Professional Reviews and Guides
"Whether done as one long hike or two short hikes, these outings provide an excellent tour of the central area of Joshua Tree National Park. The California Riding and Hiking Trail is largely sandy. These sections feature a fairly broad pathway; the final 4.4 miles are on a trail as wide as a city sidewalk. In spite of its title, there is minimal horse usage. We never saw a hoofprint on our hike. Two sections of the California Riding and Hiking Trail hiked as a single unit (11 miles) for a point-to-point day hike or broken into 6.5 and 4.4-mile one-way units."
