Lion Meadows Loop

Johnsondale, California

Lion Meadows Loop Professional Review and Guide

"A relatively low- to middle-elevation exploration of numerous tributaries of the Little Kern River, perfect in autumn for solitude and fall color. This is an especially fine hike in fall when the air is cool and crisp. The water level in the Little Kern is low enough to make the two crossings easy. Cattle, with their associated bawling, flies, and aroma, have been driven back down to lower elevations. Aspens, black oaks, willows, and dogwoods glow with warm reds, yellows, and golds, and there are plenty of juicy ripe berries."
