For the first mile to these easily accessible lakes, you will share your trail with Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) thru-hikers. Unfortunately, they will have to hurry on without enjoying the wildflower bonanza that day hikers have ahead of them. Within 2 short miles, you will see and smell colors and scents of more than two dozen varieties of wildflowers. Bring your camera and field guide, along with plenty of insect repellent and sunscreen. Both lakes have several campsites, which are used by permit on a first-come, first-serve basis. While these campsites are “sacrifice” sites meant to minimize further human impact to the area, they are well placed, offering both seclusion and views.
