Good views of the surrounding landscape en route and stunning scenery in the vicinity of Raymond Lake are certain to satisfy the most discriminating of travelers on this trip, which visits some of the volcanic topography for which the area is noted. Midsummer visitors will have the added bonus of a fine display of wildflowers. Despite following the famed Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) almost the entire distance, this trip utilizes a section that is not that heavily traveled.

This hike has some absolutely stunning vistas. It is a difficult hike with lots of elevation changes. The trail skirts around the side of the mountain at one point in the trail, about 300 yards or so with very poor footing on loose rock and a narrow trail. One slip and it's down the mountain you go. Not for the faint at heart. Raymond lake is beautiful and has some great fishing (Golden and Raibow trout). Definitely worth the hike.
