Los Robles Trail Professional Reviews and Guides

"The Los Robles Trail System is a well-planned network of trails weaving through the growing residential communities of Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, and Newbury Park. The multi-use trails link the open spaces of the inland valley with Point Mugu State Park and the oceanfront Santa Monica Mountains. This is an important wildlife corridor connecting the Santa Monica Range with the Simi Hills. The hike from Potrero Gate follows an east-west ridge through oak woodlands and open chaparral to Angel Vista, a 1,600-foot overlook with sweeping bird’s-eye views of Conejo Valley, Hidden Valley, and the surrounding mountains to the sea."

"Administered by COSCA, Los Robles Canyon Open Space offers several miles of interconnected singletracks and fire roads with variety of terrain and vegetation. Although surrounded by much development, you can quickly ride into narrow canyons rich with riparian vegetation, and onto ridges with spectacular views of the Conejo and Hidden valleys that make it seem like you are far away from the city. Yet you are never more than a few minutes from civilization. Still, the rides are challenging, and in season there are many wildflowers. Caution: The area is heavily used by equestrians, especially on weekends."

Ive done every part of this trail from Newbury park to Westlake Village. Not a bad part of the trail. West of Newbury Park to the beach is fun, fast and technical in parts. Lots of climbing in parts but well worth it. Great place to learn turns and getting fast. Little crowded on the weekday afternoons and weekends.

You will be doing some climbing, but it is not to bad. Has a nice switch back section that is shaded for part of the way. Nice view form the top. Be careful coming back down, some tight turns with sand. Overall nice ride.

A wonderful blend of single track options right ontop of civilization. Be VERY cautious of hikers and trail runners. This single track gets quite a bit of use from all types.
