These 1232 acres of redwood and oak/madrone forest lie on the east side of the Skyline ridge immediately north of San Mateo County’s Huddart Park. Situated at the southern end of the San Francisco Watershed, over which the Golden Gate National Recreation Area has a scenic easement, this newest addition to the GGNRA becomes a vital link in a 56-mile-long, 40-mile wide tapestry of permanent open space from San Francisco south to San Jose. Trails for hikers and equestrians ascend through the forest from Huddart Park to the Skyline ridge, gaining 1400 feet in elevation en route. This trail guide includes the following trails: Climb to the Crest of the Santa Cruz Mountains, A Creekside Walk.
