Bullfrog Pond Campground Professional Review and Guide
"The trip to Bullfrog Pond feels a bit like a fairytale journey: you start in Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve in a quiet, dark redwood canyon and climb steeply into Austin Creek State Recreation Area on a tiny road, traveling through oaks and grassland to a high ridge with sweeping views and a campground sheltered by trees around a small pond. Although the campground is open all year, winter camping is soggy, and summers are sweltering. Spring is best, and autumn is fine as well, although late in the year when there’s high fire danger, campfires can be prohibited."
