Bluff Top Trail to Walk-on Beach

Bluff Top Trail to Walk-on Beach Professional Review and Guide

"Ranking as one of the best coastal hikes, this trail is brimming with scenic views and opportunities to sample beaches, coves, and picnic perches. But what makes this trail unique is the fact that although it begins in a regional park, by agreement most of it traces the bluffs of a private residential and exclusive resort community.

The hike begins in Gualala Point Regional Park, at the northernmost end of the Sonoma coast overlooking the picturesque Gualala River estuary, and continues in the Sea Ranch residential community. The park and its residential neighbor share some of the same history, beginning with the Pomo Indians, whose seasonal migration to the shores and lifestyle were gentle on the environment. In the early 1800s the Russians’ endeavors of hunting sea otters and logging redwoods left a much less kind imprint."
