Glendora Mountain Road

Glendora Mountain Road Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Glendora Mountain Road is a challenging climb up into the San Gabriel Mountains at the far eastern edge of Los Angeles County. What distinguishes this road from other mountain roads is that it is closed to traffic. This is arguably the quietest, most peaceful climb a rider can make in the San Gabriel Mountains. After reaching the top, riders can attack the zigzagging road along the ridge, taking them to Mount Baldy, a small village that has a couple of restaurants, a lodge, a post office, and a fire department that resides in the shadow of Mount Baldy. Riders can either return by doubling back on their route or dropping into the Los Angeles basin. Road surface: Good. Road traffic: Moderate. Exposure: Mornings and late afternoons can be overcast. Scenery: Alpine environment and some city views."

"The Glendora Ridge Stage ride is an epic loop that starts in Glendora; climbs Glendora Mountain to Glendora Ridge; rides along the ridge (which features an additional 1,000 feet of climbing) before dropping into Mount Baldy Village, making a rapid and steep descent of Mount Baldy Road into Claremont and then a casual passage through La Verne and San Dimas before returning to Glendora. With an elevation differential of 3,648 feet, this ride is surpassed only by the Mount Lowe and Wilson Expedition." Read more
