Griffith Park Trails with Amir's Garden Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Located within the hills of Griffith Park, this hike begins with a climb to the lovely Amir’s Garden and then follows several equestrian trails to make a pleasant loop. While the views will remind you that you are in an urban park, the hike is surprisingly tranquil, offering refuge from the city as well as a chance to explore the beauty of the garden."

"A steep but manageable path leads past green hills and a large water tower to a 2-acre oasis of palm trees, ferns, succulents, and other native plants and flowers. Griffith Park, tucked into the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains, is the largest municipal park in the United States. Its 4,100 acres include the Los Angeles Zoo, a 1926 merry-go-round, four municipal golf courses, a world-renowned observatory, and miles of hiking trails that make you forget you’re in the middle of the nation’s secondlargest city. A comprehensive list of trails in the park is available at the Griffith Park Visitor Center at 4730 Crystal Springs Drive." Read more

Its a nice hike along the creek and through the park when it isn't busy. Once on the trail uphill to the observatory it can get really steep and more then 50percent of the tail isn't shaded. Gets really hot in the summer. Once at the top on a clear day you can see the ocean and amazing views.Always busy!

I rate this hike in two of my categories, Grand Pa and Romantic.
Great to take a picnic lunch and stroll through a unique fern lined stream. The kids will love it.
The hike up to the Griffith Observatory is a bit strenuous but worth it.
Just down the road are the Bronson Caves, or as I call them the Batman Cave. Easy walk great for the kids.

This is a great trail to run on. It is very wide, and on the weekdays is not crowded. The views are extremely awesome on a clear day. I would park down by Ferndale Park and hike to the observatory from there. I hope the recent fires have not altered the route.

A very nice Sunday afternoon walk, but not a serious hike, in my view. Rather crowded on the weekend. Impressive views of the city, if city is what you want to see. And you won't be able to see even that if it's smoggy, which it likely will be.
