Woodcutters Meadow– Asbury Creek Loop Professional Review and Guide
"Woodcutter’s Meadow is a large grassy meadow above London Lake in Jack London State Historic Park. From the meadow are views down Sonoma Valley to San Pablo Bay and across the valley to the Mayacamas Mountains. Asbury Creek cascades along the southern side of the meadow. The creek tumbles downstream through a dense forest of redwoods. This hike begins at Beauty Ranch, a group of historic buildings that once comprised London’s mountainside ranch. The trail leads to London Lake, a reservoir and former swimming hole used by the Londons, then begins a two-mile loop. The loop route leads to May’s Clearing, an open grassy slope above the lake, and Woodcutter’s Meadow. The trail traverses the forested slopes of Sonoma Mountain and parallels Asbury Creek, crossing two bridges over the creek."
