North Boundary and Lone Pine Trails Professional Review and Guide

"Despite being the primary horse trail in the Grant Grove area, this hike is a little-traveled jewel in the early summer and the fall. This trail was involved in the Rough Fire in 2015. The area may be closed for a year or more while reforestation and reconstruction takes place. Bear in mind that reforestation will take some time and landscape will look different from the trail description for quite a while.

Small yellow violets and light pink pussy-paws bloom along the trail in clearings. Many of the trees in Grant Grove and Sequoia National Park sustained damage or were killed by the caterpillars of the tussock moth in 1998. You may notice bare or brown conifers along this portion of the trail due to that outbreak."
