My son and I hiked up to Weaver Lake starting at 3:30 in the afternoon and were there in 1 hour, 45 minutes at a moderate pace. Weaver Lake was so pretty that we stayed there the next day rather than going on to Jennie Lake. We were lucky there was only one other group camping there both nights, but on the way down there were two groups of 12 or 13 backpackers from what looked like a fat camp, as well as 8 or 10 day hikers. It's a great spot with lots of nice campsites, but it might be a bit crowded. Mosquitos were there, but not too bad, even though we forgot repellent. We hung our food, but there was no sign of bears. The lake was great for swimming.

The hike to Jennie Lake is beautiful. You walk past meadows and amazing overlooks as you head your way up to poop out pass. At many point the hike seemed never ending however, once you get to the lake it is absolutely beautiful. During the summer you should begin your hike as early as possible to get a nice spot alog the lake to camp, because it does become slightly crowded. The only other thing you should be aware of, is that from the trail, the side trail to the lake was not well marked. Enjoy this hike.

Short in miles but a steep trail to a beautiful high Sierra lake. No bears or mosquitos and very few hikers at the lake the week after Labor Day. Great camp sites around 60 % of the lake. Bushwhack East of JO pass to a ridge on the North side of Kettle Peak (an easy day hike)for a great view of the Western Divide. An alternate trailhead for Jennie Lake is Fox Meadow which saves a mile or so of up.
