    MacKerricher State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"MacKerricher’s 1,600 acres contain an 8-mile-long, wide, sandy beach; a coastal forest; a 13-acre freshwater lake; a boardwalk leading to a promontory for viewing whales and sea lions; hiking/jogging trails; and a shoreline equestrian trail. The spacious campground is spread over several loops, shaded by coastal pines and adjacent to the beach.

Cleone Lake, near the campground, contains a resident population of bluegill, bass, and bullhead and is stocked annually with rainbow trout. It offers great birding too, with 90 species living here or visiting the tidal lagoon. Horses may be rented just outside the park. Groceries and services exist in nearby Cleone. Elevation 30 feet. Stay limit 30 days. Open all year."
