For a more comprehensive survey of Whiting Ranch Park, try this outstanding loop through the park’s two largest canyons. You’ll travel up Borrego Canyon to a watershed divide, then descend through Serrano Canyon. The basic loop is a little less than 6 miles (including a mile on the sidewalk along Portola Parkway at the end), though numerous side trips and extensions are possible if you want to lengthen your hike.
