Beeks Bight Nature Trail

Beeks Bight Nature Trail Professional Review and Guide

"The oak woodland ecology of Folsom Lake frames this short interpretive trail along the shoreline of a relatively isolated bay. In the height of summer, Folsom Lake attracts recreationalists like the bell of an ice-cream truck attracts children. Boaters and swimmers, campers and picnickers, horseback riders and mountain bikers—they congregate on the water and along the shoreline, savoring the expansive scenery, the abundant opportunities for fun and thrills, and whatever is cooking on the outdoor grill. Hikers may be challenged to find peace and quiet on even the remotest of the park’s 95 miles of trail during the summer. The nature trail at Beeks Bight is no exception. But in the off-season, when temperatures cool and the boats are stored, you stand a good chance of being downright isolated on this singletrack excursion. Interpretive panels along the route, placed by local schoolchildren in 2002, offer insight into the human and natural history of the oak woodland ecosystem you’ll traverse."
