Bertha Peak Professional Review and Guide
"Like neighboring Delamar Mountain, Bertha Peak at 8,201 feet rises high on the forested ridge between Holcomb Valley and Big Bear Lake. From its rounded summit, you get a striking perspective over the gentle valley-and-ridge country of the central San Bernardinos.
This trip takes the Cougar Crest Trail from Highway 38, on the north shore of Big Bear Lake, to the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), then ascends a steep dirt track to the electronic relay station on the summit. It is a pleasant and popular walk through an open forest of pinyon pine and juniper, climaxed by a panoramic view well worth the effort. Do it on a clear day, when almost the entire San Bernardinos sprawl below you, and the great Grayback–Mount San Bernardino ridge looms high and stark on the southeast skyline."
