Kent Lake - San Geronimo Ridge Professional Review and Guide
"This hike, all on fire roads, circles above Peters Dam to explore Kent Lake and San Geronimo Ridge. Good local views, some spring flowers. Some bicycles on weekends."
--Don & Kay Martin, Hiking Marin: 141 Great Hikes in Marin County (Marin Press LLC).
The begining of the trail is very beautiful, you are surrounded by trees and the sound of the flowing creek downs out the all to close road. After about a half mile the trail forks, make sure you take the left fork and head up the hill as the other fork leads only to the base of the dam. The last portion of the ascent coud use some maintence and requires that you climb down about a ten foot drop to get down to the resevoir. The water was very low when we were there but the lake is still very beautiful. We opted out of the hike around the lake as the trail was not well maintained and involved quite a bit of bush wacking. The walk down the other side is very pleasant, it is paved for easy fire access and follows the other side of the creek.
