I picked this trail almost at random today, just looking for a trail in the high country out of the heat and smoke. I found the trail to be a great hike, offering nice scenery, solitude, easy grades, shade and occasional pleasant surprises. The aspens near the trailhead are a nice touch, offering their white sound to cover up the Hwy 88 traffic noise. The old-growth fir forest further up the trail provides shade and are impressive. The imposing face of Thunder Mountain is a fantastic surprise when it appears through the forest. I want to go back and tie into the Thunder Mountain Trail to complete a loop. Since this is a multi-use trail, keep aware of other users and everybody can enjoy the trail.
