Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne Trail

Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"In taking this trip, you’ll experience firsthand what the mighty Tuolumne River has created over tens of millions of years. The trip’s highest and lowest points are more than 5600 vertical feet apart! If you have only a couple of days, an out-and-back trip based on Day 1 of this trip, as far as Morrison Creek, makes an easy weekender with a fine view of the canyon."

"Hikers who follow the Tuolumne River down the spectacular granite-bound canyon can expect superb scenery. The river provides a constantly changing spectacle as it flows from the placidly reflective pools of Tuolumne Meadows to foaming cascades, thundering waterfalls, and churning catch-basins on its turbulent journey down the Grand Canyon. On either side of the river are magnificent walls of granite that rise a breathless 4,000 feet above the canyon floor. The most pleasing way to do this hike is as a loop that includes a trek to Ten Lakes. However, using the park’s excellent transportation system (summer only), the Grand Canyon may also be hiked as a one-way trip from Tuolumne Meadows to White Wolf."
