Lola Montez Lakes Professional Review and Guide
"This is mostly a forested walk on stretches of road and trail lead to two fine lakes, both well suited for a bit of swimming on a hot summer day or some angling for the resident trout. The beginning of the trail is well marked. Signs indicate that parts of the trail cross private land and that hikers should respect the rights of property owners. With the roar of traffic behind you, begin hiking on singletrack trail through moderate forest cover of lodgepole pines and white firs. Soon the trail passes below a power line and then descends to a gravel road. Leave the road behind and climb up a forested hillside. After a pair of switchbacks, the forest parts enough to allow views east of the area around Castle Peak."
