Shoreline Butte

Shoreline Butte Professional Review and Guide

"Shoreline Butte, rising from the valley floor at the Narrows, is a solitary 650-foot hill, visible at the south end of Death Valley. From afar the butte is softly rounded, unlike the jagged mountains that stream by on either side. From the summit, the views of the park are panoramic.

From the starting point at the parking area, the butte rises to the west. As you will discover, the elusive summit is well behind those foothills you see from the mill site. If you drive toward the butte from the north, take time to stop at the Lake Manley point of interest sign just south of the west-side road junction. The butte from that view has very distinctive wave terraces striping its northern slopes."
