Scotty’s Canyon

Scotty’s Canyon Professional Review and Guide

"Scotty’s is a highly varied canyon—changing from a wide wash to slots to narrows to grottos with small springs guarded by mesquite, alcoves, and sheer cliffs. Moderate rock climbing above the spring allows up-canyon exploration for another 0.5 mile to a rockfall and beyond a short distance to a rock wall.

The lack of color in the surrounding brown hillsides is offset by the colorful history of Death Valley Scotty, who once lived in his secluded “Camp Hold-out” in an eroded cave deep in his namesake canyon."
