Nemo Canyon

Nemo Canyon Professional Review and Guide

"The Nemo Canyon hike takes you on a gentle downhill traverse hike through open desert and down a wide graveled wash, bounded by low ridges and multicolored badlands, providing a pleasing contrast to nearby mountain climbs.

This moderate point-to-point down-canyon traverse begins in open desert country dotted with creosote bushes and Mormon tea. Nemo Canyon drops moderately to the southwest. To avoid walking toward the sun and into a stiff afternoon wind, make
this a morning excursion if at all possible. The canyon is wide open with low-lying hills and ridges. Soon a few scattered yuccas begin to appear. At first the wash is braided and graveled, but it becomes better defined with a sandy bottom after about 1 mile. At 1.5 miles the valley narrows a bit."

"The Nemo Canyon hike takes you on a gentle downhill traverse through open desert along a wide graveled wash, bounded by low ridges and multicolored badlands, providing a pleasing contrast to nearby mountain climbs. Several short, narrow side canyons branch out along the way. The end point is the broad mouth of Nemo Canyon on Wildrose Canyon Road, which is located down the canyon 3 miles southwest of Wildrose Junction and 1 mile southwest of the picnic area.
