Moonlight Bridge Canyon

Moonlight Bridge Canyon Professional Review and Guide

"This outing takes you through a winding conglomerate canyon to the loftiest known natural bridge in Death Valley National Park. Vast areas of fresh gravel on the canyon floor indicate the constant dramatic changes in the geology of Death Valley canyons.

The foothills of the Grapevine Mountains have many folds that could lead you astray. From the parking area you will be able to see a sharp conglomerate cliff on Moonlight’s southeastern flank. While you can get this visual fix from your vehicle, the preferred pathway to the canyon is not a straight line. Instead, avoid the cobbled ridges and trenches of the alluvial fan and follow the sandy wash at the road’s edge."
