I have a conflict with this place. I love it and I hate it! This 25-mile lake is probably one of the most heavily used water resources in the state. Therein lies the problem. The fishing, however, always pays off for me. Here’s why: The lake is loaded with fish! It’s a bass angler’s dream, as well as home to an outstanding trophy trout fishery. The lake is easy to get to, is scenic, offers plenty of camping and services, and can be a fun picnic or party spot—hence, the potential for overpopulation on some weekends. Stay sharp amidst all the boat traffic. Better yet, try to be on the water at midweek. You’ll appreciate the difference. Types of Fish: Rainbow and brown trout; largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass; panfish; and catfish. This fly-fishing chapter describes the "where, when, and how" for fishing in this area. It includes a full-page map and information on the known hatches, suggested equipment to use, the best flies to use, season, limits, nearby accommodations, and camping.
