Dana Point Harbor Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Dana Point Harbor, built in 1971, is a majestic harbor located at the base of 200-foot cliffs near the southern coastal end of Orange County. The harbor lies between the 120-acre Dana Point headland and Doheny State Beach. The Dana Point Marine Life Refuge surrounds the steep precipice from the west end of the harbor, including the offshore San Juan Rocks. Tidepools line the protected refuge, with sea urchins, anemone, starfish, and hermit crabs.
Bordering the marina is a grassy waterfront park with picnic tables, a calm-water swimming beach, fishing platforms, and a paved walkway. Dana Island, a picturesque manmade island park, fronts the Dana Point Harbor. It is reached via Island Way, a vehicle/pedestrian bridge beside the boat moorings. This hike explores the harbor, Dana Island, and the shoreline beneath the Dana Point cliffs."
