Heart Rock

Heart Rock Professional Review and Guide

"The cool waters of Seeley Creek flow down the north slope of the San Bernardino Mountains beneath incense cedars and oaks. Through a fortuitous quirk of geology, they have carved a remarkable heart-shaped basin in the rock alongside a waterfall. Beyond, they rush down the granite slabs into an alluring pool. This short hike follows the bank of Seeley Creek to the Heart Rock overlook and the pool. The best times for this trip are in the spring when the waterfall is most dramatic and in the early summer when the water is tempting for a dip."

This is an easy trail, with just a few slippery and rocky areas, but neither my dog nor my kids were bothered. The trail is covered in shade with lots of pretty wildflowers and a little stream below the path. If you follow the stream upwards and climb around the waterfall on the left there is a nice view of the heart rock.
