Stout Grove

Stout Grove Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The most famous grove of old-growth redwoods in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. A very short, easy, and popular loop along with a world-class drive. Many options. There is parking for about 15 cars. Additional parking can be found on pullouts alongside Howland Hills Road.

The park is bisected by Howland Hills Road, a rough gravel route that twists below the ancient druid giants for almost 10 miles between Hiouchi and Crescent City. The first and most popular stop on Howland Hills Road is Stout Grove, with an easy loop trail beneath immense redwoods. The loop connects to many of the park’s trails."
