Smith River Falls

Smith River Falls Professional Review and Guide

"The rains that soak California’s North Coast fuel a number of waterfalls in the Smith River drainage. While a trail, of sorts, leads down to a thunderous fall on the Middle Fork of the Smith River, most of these falls can be viewed from scenic CA 199.

The complex of public lands that stretches from just north of Eureka and Arcata to the Oregon border protects 45 percent of the remaining old-growth redwood forest in California, according to the California State Parks department. Three state parks—Prairie Creek Redwoods, Del Norte Coast, and Jedediah Smith–Redwoods—along with Redwood National Park, make up what has been designated a National Heritage Site and an International Biosphere Reserve."
