Simpson-Reed and Peterson Loop

Simpson-Reed & Peterson Loop Professional Review and Guide

"Combining these two short loops creates an easy stroll through a picturesque redwood grove suitable for just about anyone. The old-growth redwood forest is quite lush, with a particularly dense and varied understory, including moss-covered hemlocks and a number of deciduous varieties somewhat unusual for a typical redwood forest. Interpretive signs along the Simpson-Reed section provide a good introduction to the history and ecology of the redwood forest. The grove is directly north of CA 199, but the dense foliage seems to be fairly effective at muffling some of the traffic noise."
