Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Set in a mature forest of Douglas fir, cedar, and Pacific madrone trees, Panther Flat Campground is steps away from the Smith River. Anglers can find challenging seasonal fishing for salmon, steelhead, and cutthroat trout. There are no trailheads in the campground, but there are many within 10 miles of the site. A botanical trail to a unique Darlingtonia californica (California pitcher plant) bog is just 1 mile away.

Stoney Creek Trail, which follows the creek to its junction with the North Fork of the Smith River, begins about 2 miles west of the campground, near Gasquet. A free hiking guide to this and other trails in the area is available by calling Six Rivers National Forest (see Management). Stay limit 14 days. Open all year."
