Backbone Trail—Zuma Canyon

Backbone Trail—Zuma Canyon Professional Review and Guide

"The Backbone Trail has been a dream of hikers, naturalists, conservationists, and recreation enthusiasts for nearly half a century. As it finally nears completion, the trail will connect the entire chain of parks, preserves, and recreation lands within the Santa Monica Mountains National Park Unit. It crosses ridgelines, canyons, chaparral-covered hillsides, woodlands, and valleys forming a 65-mile long chain that will one day traverse from Point Mugu through Will Rogers State Historic Park."

Great 5 mile round trip hike with beautiful views of the Santa Monica Mountains. A bit of running water although this may be due to the recent heavy rainfall. Overall very beautiful hike with a lot of shade.
