Lake Sonoma Professional Review and Guide
"Located in the lovely coastal foothills north of Santa Rosa, this gem is known for sizzling bass fly fishing. There’s plenty of structure and cover such as timber stick-ups and submerged vegetation—classic bass habitat where the fish breed and feed. This is all by design. Lake Sonoma, behind Warm Springs Dam, finished filling a two-creek drainage in 1985. Much of the brush and vegetation was left, creating an excellent warm-water environment for fish and fly fishers. Types of Fish: Smallmouth and largemouth bass, landlocked steelhead, and panfish. This fly-fishing chapter describes the "where, when, and how" for fishing in this area. It includes a full-page map and information on the known hatches, suggested equipment to use, the best flies to use, season, limits, nearby accommodations, and camping."
