Cloverdale River Park

Cloverdale River Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Of all the trails in the Wine Country, this short hike has the most and best access to the Russian River. It follows the riverbank, passing through forests and meadows. This section of the river still retains its swift-moving mountain-river character, and numerous little rapids and rocky chutes are found along the hike. The Russian River begins its 110-mile journey to the sea in the mountains of the North Coast Range, northwest of Clear Lake. The river makes a scenic passage through the canyons and valleys of the North Coast Range before finally reaching the sea at the small village of Jenner."

"The town of Cloverdale is tucked into the rolling hills of northern Sonoma County on the banks of the Russian River. Cloverdale River Park stretches 1.3 miles along the west bank of the river from First Street, near downtown, to McCray Road at the north end. A mile-long paved trail follows the river through the 72- acre park, passing fresh water marshes, grassland meadows, oak woodlands, riparian scrub, and riparian forest. This hike begins from the southern trailhead, but the trail can be started from either entrance." Read more
