Anderson Marsh

Anderson Marsh Professional Review and Guide

"Visit oak woodlands before exploring a marsh shoreline that hosts a variety of birds. Wear long pants and a long-sleeve shirt, and be prepared for some mud along Anderson Marsh. The marsh area is a bird lover’s paradise: look for pelicans, green herons, and blue herons."

More Anderson Marsh Professional Reviews and Guides

"This hike is an easy stroll through prime bird and wildflower habitat and is especially impressive in the springtime when the meadows are in full bloom. Birders will find a wealth of species, but take note: They are best viewed in the morning. Archeology buffs will also be rewarded on this hike. The park was once the site of a Pomo Indian village and has yielded useful archeological information. A 19th Century ranch house, typical of early European settlers, serves as a museum and visitor center for the park. Terrain: Mowed meadow, boardwalk, and dirt path through grassland, oak woodland, riparian woodland, and freshwater marsh."

This is an easy walk, mostly flat. But it is super hot in the summer! Wear a hat, sunscreen, and bring lots of water with you.
