Willow Lake to Terminal Geyser

Willow Lake to Terminal Geyser Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The 2.8-mile trail from Drakesbad to Terminal Geyser is a popular hike, especially for guests lodging at the resort—this slightly shorter trail from Willow Lake to the same destination is not. The first half of the route is an essentially flat hike around the shore of aptly named Willow Lake and the extensive meadow above the northwest shore.

The second half is a moderate climb through forest cover to the geyser, which is actually not a geyser, which periodically erupts hot water, but a fumarole, which emits steam and gases. Whatever the correct designation, Terminal Geyser provides an interesting hydrothermal show, and the hike is a fine complement to an overnight stay at the primitive Willow Lake Campground."
