Lower Deer Creek Falls Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"A secluded trail leads down alongside Deer Creek to tiered falls funneled through a narrowing and boulder-strewn channel. Pick your day just right, and you may find yourself all alone on the out-of-the-way trail that follows Deer Creek downstream to its lower falls. Cupped in a rocky bend on the year-round stream, and accessible only by scrambling down a steep hillside, the falls present an elusive destination, though one that’s been admired by many, as the memorial bench tucked in the woods above attests.
The creek, its falls, and its steep-walled canyon offer solace and solitude in spades. A short staircase leads up from the highway bridge spanning Deer Creek, passing an information signboard describing the salmon and steelhead that spawn in the stream. The creek, like many in Lassen country, is popular with anglers."
