Crystal Lake Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Usually, the combination of a scenic destination and a short trail is prescription for overuse, especially within the boundaries of a national park. Fortunately, Crystal Lake is located in one of the more remote areas of Lassen Volcanic, so the scenic lake and its simple 0.4-mile trail are relatively quiet.
Despite its short length, the path is moderate to moderately steep almost the entire way. Crystal Lake is a favorite among swimmers searching for a refreshing dip and anglers hoping to hook a good-size trout. Fair to good views of nearby Juniper Lake, Mt. Harkness, and Lassen Peak provide an added bonus."
