Best Easy Day Hikes: Conejo Valley
by Allen Riedel (Falcon Guides)
Hike in the upper reaches of Leo Carrillo State Park, through beautiful meadows, and take in heavenly views of the mountains and coast. This hike begins at the upper trailhead for Malibu Springs. Stay left and walk through the meadow, where outstanding views of the Santa Monica Mountains are simply par for the course. In less than 0.1 mile the trail branches into a Y, where the mountain views quickly subside. Turn left to follow the trail into Nicholas Flat—the right fork heads down to Malibu Springs.
