Of the 25 backpackers allowed to leave Roads End each day on the Bubbs Creek Trail, most are bound for the popular Rae Lakes Loop, bypassing the incredible scenery up the nearly forgotten side canyon of East Creek. While most of these loopers usually spend from four to five days completing their circuit, they could easily instead enjoy the serene environs of East Lake, Lake Reflection, and the upper basin beyond. From a stunningly picturesque base camp at Lake Reflection, mountaineers have a bounty of impressive summits to scale. Even anglers will be tempted by rumors of good-size trout. Whatever their motivation, backpackers will be rewarded with incomparable alpine scenery.
